Ana Cerrato, director of Abancem, has signed the collaboration agreement with Lovaas Foundation for the "Join us" project.
From the Planeta Imaginario Foundation we want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
This year has been full of challenges and achievements that have made this 2016 an incredible year. All planetariums know that it would not have been possible without the confidence you have placed in us. To all the families who trust in our work, to all the participants to our trainings, as well as those who have chosen the apps that Planeta Imaginario puts at your disposal...for all this and much, THANK YOU!
The "Nostra Senyora de Meritxell School” in Andorra performed a training-stage last week in Barcelona.
Throughout the week, part of the “Meritxell Center’s” staff, which moved to Barcelona, joined our different teams in order to see the implementation and praxis of the ABA model for children with ASD.
The Planeta Imaginario Foundation collaborates actively in the development of research articles as one of the main objectives of our work as a center of reference and replication of the ABA project.
This time, Planeta Imaginario takes part in a study focused on showing the importance of the prediction of treatment results as an important aspect in the clinical planning.
The Staff of the Foundation does a new three-month meeting to update and do some training with the whole team.
As usual, the Foundation organizes meetings every three months to incorporate changes in terms of structureand clinical perspectives, always having the goal of improving our daily work with our kids.
Planeta Imaginario Foundation starts a new training project in Andorra. The ones receiving this training are the school Meritxell, a center of national reference in training and educating people with disabilities in Andorra.
The cooperation agreement will start in June and will bring the ABA intervention modelin both theoretical and practical terms, to Andorra and specifically to the School Meritxell.
Planeta Imaginario Foundation finished the stage at the USA and Argentina. The reception of our Foundation has been incredible at both destinations, and so has been the interest of the participants in learning.
Once the internship has ended, the first conclusion we obtain is the evident increase and interest in training and improving the aptitudes in ABA methodology, with the purpose of improving our work with the children.
During the international stage, specifically, at the course of ASEMCO Foundation(Argentina) that was both online and in-persone, we had more than 300 registered participants. On the other hand, at the Killen Center(Texas) we’ve been training the total of their motivated and committed staff. Great opportunities at both destinations!!
Planeta Imaginario Foundation is starting, once again, a training tour while developing Training Programs focused in ABA methodology. During the months of April and May we will be giving three new courses in Texas (USA) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Specifically, during the 21st and 24th of April we will do the intensive training course in Killen (Texas), oriented to Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. This course will be done thanks to the collaboration of the Texas Occupational Therapy Association.
That is why since then, every April 2nd Planeta Imaginario Foundation gets covered in blue to divulge what autism is, how detecting it and the most important, how treating it.
The epidemiological data about the rate of ASD, according to different researches and webs of reference, is 1 over 681 2 kids. It seems this incidence is maintained in time concerning the number of boys and girls that are diagnosed, being between 3 and 4 times higher in boys. Currently in Spain there are about 50.000 children with autism.
What is the ABA Intervention model? Which is its origin? How does it work?
Here we offer an introduction.
First, what do we understand by ABA? It corresponds to "Applied Behavior Analysis".
The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a branch of Psychology that has provided a large amount of scientific studies –published at magazines with methodology review criteria- proving the efficacy of diverse procedures and behavioral techniques in reducing inappropriate behaviors, while increasing the repertoire of appropriate behaviors and new skills, specifically in children with autism.
