One of the objectives underpinning Lovaas Foundation is the training of professionals and families. The challenges that ASD confronts us with are manifold and frequently difficult to overcome.
If they could be solved easily there would not be specialized teams working throughout the world, nor would it be one of the pathologies that generates the greatest amount of research in psychology – parents and professionals by themselves, with no more than common sense and a little bit of experience, would be able to tackle these challenges with ease.
It follows therefore that tackling the learning and behavioural difficulties that each child presents us with requires, in addition to commitment, passion and a good deal of affection, the use of technical procedures and tools that lend efficacy to everything we try to teach each child.
We are aware of this at Lovaas Foundation and for this reason we wish to share our technical knowledge, amply supported by the research and clinical practice developed over decades at the Lovaas Institute and its official Replication Sites, with the wider community of professionals and families.
The Lovaas Foundation approaches training in a number of ways:
- Participation in scientific conferences via lectures, talks and poster sessions.
- Training given by the Foundation throughout Spain.
- Training in collaboration with other public and private institutions, such as universities.
- Private training needed by working groups, as well as parents, schools and so on.
Lovaas Foundation continues to mould and fine-tune its efforts in the pursuit of maximum effectiveness in its working procedures and tools. But from the Foundation’s perspective we try to convey our know-how to others, making our day-to-day practice accessible to anyone who may be interested. Because wherever there are people that want to hear us, that is where Lovaas Foundation will be.
